Camp Australia is dedicated to helping all kids reach their full
potential, positively impacting their health and wellbeing and
spreading smiles.
Childhood provides an important opportunity to set healthy,
active lifestyle patterns that will be carried through until later
in life. Research shows that high quality care services provides
kids with a better start in life and improves their chances of
being successful later in life.
All kids deserve the very best possible start in life; Camp
Australia is working with schools, communities, families and the Camp Australia
Foundation to deliver active, healthy programs fueled by
nutrition to improve the wellbeing of kids and support
families.
Get Active
We provide primary school children of all ages, ability, gender
and race the opportunity to experience and participate in a wide
variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Through these
experiences, children develop positive attitudes towards a
physically active lifestyle, nurture relationships with their
peers, and improve their self-esteem and leadership skills.

Our programs enhance the development of skills, knowledge and
understanding in physical, social, emotional and intellectual areas
- we focus on wellbeing as a whole.
At Camp Australia Before and After School Care kids have the
opportunity to try new activities ranging from fencing, to yoga and
circus skills. We don't forget the basics also, and how much fun
the traditional game of tiggy was for us.
We get to know each kid individually and tailor an active
program to suit, delivering more than sport.
Camp Australia builds on its programs and extends school
activity by participating in the Active After-School Communities program. An
Australian Government initiative, the Active After-School
Communities program aims to encourage traditionally inactive
children to develop a love of sport that inspires them to join a
sporting club through a fun and positive experience.

Eat Well
We aim to impact positive wellbeing as a whole and this includes
influencing dietary habits.
A healthy and delicious breakfast and afternoon snack is
provided in line with the Heart
Smart food strategy and government food safety guidelines as
well as Camp Australia's own policy.
Food available in the program is chosen from "The Approved List
of Foods" on Camp Australia's National Food Safety Plan, chosen
with consideration to children's growth and development needs. The
menu is low in salt, low in sugar, low in fat, with ingredients
that are selected to ensure that dietary, cultural and religious
requirements are considered, along with nutritional value.
In addition to providing a selection of fresh fruit and
vegetables, biscuits and sandwiches with a variety of fillings,
there are cooking activities which include slices, cup-cakes and
pancakes, pop-corn, jelly, corn chips and nachos.
At breakfast there is a selection of different cereals, toast
with spreads along with muffins ('huffins' = honey muffins /
'juffins' = jam muffins). Staff encourage all children to drink
water when at the program, and milk and Milo are also
available.

Important life skills are imparted through the cooking
activities in the program as an extension of the healthy food
program. A pantry of ingredients is available to suit most children
who attend, as well as healthy and nutritious recipes to make baked
and non-baked goodies for them to enjoy at the program.
To ensure the safety of all children, there are a few items that
are not provided. Camp Australia programs do not provide peanuts,
peanut products and other forms of nuts. The menu and cooking
activities will not include any form of nut or nut product. High
risk foods; such as meat that require refrigeration during
transport are also not provided in the program.
